About the Department

The Brentwood Police Department was established in 1971, two years after the City’s incorporation in 1969. The City’s 40.8 square miles is patrolled twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. The Department achieved National Accreditation in 1989 from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. The Department’s authorized staffing level is fifty-six (56) sworn certified officers and fifteen (15) civilian personnel. The highly professional force uses a variety of creative programs and services to better serve the City, including Enhanced 911 Emergency Service, Neighborhood Watch, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Police/School liaison programs and an emphasis on community policing. The Department’s organizational structure consists of the Command Staff made up of the Chief of Police, an Assistant Chief of Police, and three(3) Division Captains; Field Operations, Criminal Investigations, and Technical/Support Services Division. The department’s organization structure allows authority to be delegated to ranking members of the police department for efficiency and to ensure the carrying out of the department’s duties and achieving the goals and objectives of the department.
