Parks
Brentwood has nine parks and eight greenway/green
spaces, covering over 575 acres of recreational land. They provide athletic fields,
basketball and tennis courts, picnic shelter areas, biking/walking and hiking trails,
playgrounds, an outdoor amphitheater and a
historic area. Athletic fields, courts and
picnic shelters are open for reservation. Fee and deposit are required. Pets must be on a
leash
at all times. Event permits are required to conduct any event or activity in the
city parks. Contact the Parks and Recreation Department

Concord Park

Park Board
A volunteer citizen board that meets on the first
Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Center to discuss park projects
and
activities and serves as an advisory committee to the City Commissioners on park related
issues.
Permits
Permits for building, remodeling,
demolition, decks, sheds, commercial tents, signs, parades, block parties,
temporary road closures,
and seasonal sales can be obtained from the Codes
Department, call 371-2204. For burning or blasting permits, contact
the Fire
Department at 371-0170. For road cut, excavation or grading
permits, call the Service Center at 371-0080.

Picnic Shelters
Shelters at River Park, Crockett Park,
Owl Creek and Granny
White Park can be reserved from February 1 - October 31. A fee and
deposit are required.

Planning Commission
The Brentwood Planning Commission, a board
consisting of nine appointed citizens and a city commissioner, oversees subdivision
and
site plan development related to housing, zoning, expansion, landscaping/screening and
open space. The board meets the first
Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Brentwood
Municipal Center. The Planning Commission meeting is shown on Comcast
Cable Channel 19
on Tuesdays and Thursdays (9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.) following the meeting.

Planning
and Codes Department
The Planning and Codes Department is responsible for
assisting citizens in determining the zoning of property, flood plain determinations,
address verification, home occupation permits, accessory structures permits, and other miscellaneous development issues. The Codes
staff assists citizens in obtaining
information about building a home or an addition, permit requirements, home repairs,
construction of
swimming pools and decks, complaints or inquiries about adjacent
properties and other building code related issues. For more

Police Department
Supported by an enhanced 911 communications
system, the Brentwood Police Department protects the city and responds to traffic
accidents. It also conducts educational programs in schools and the community. Some of the

causing pollution such as dumping of waste or other contaminants into a

Located at 8011 Brooks Chapel Road, hours are
8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m.

Property Taxes
City and county property taxes are levied on real
property, and income producing personal property. The city has not had a tax
increase since 1991. For further information on city taxes,

Public Hearings
Public hearings are held during
City Commission meetings in regard to zoning changes, annexation of
property, adoption of the annual
budget and certain other issues. Public
hearings are advertised in the legal section of the Williamson A.M. section of The Tennessean.

Public Works Department
The Public Works Department is responsible for
street maintenance, litter control, snow and ice removal, street sweeping, mowing
the
right-of-way, trimming and removing trees in the right-of-way, storm sewers and
drainage, dead animal removal from streets,
pavement marking and signage, traffic signals,
and street lights, as well as a curbside brush chipping program. Call 371-0080 for further
