The City of Brentwood was incorporated in 1969 and operates under a commission-manager form of government. The City Commission is the legislative and policy-making body of the city. It consists of seven members elected at-large for four year, staggered terms. The Mayor and Vice-Mayor are appointed by the City Commission for two year terms. Unless otherwise re-scheduled, the City Commission meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Municipal Center, 5211 Maryland Way.
