The City of Brentwood Emergency Communications Center is staffed twenty-four hours daily and is the nerve center for all activity that occurs within the City. Public Safety Dispatchers are civilian employees who report to the police lieutenant of Support Services.
The Communications Center is the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the City of Brentwood, meaning all emergency calls originating in the City are routed to the Communications Center. In order to maintain Brentwood’s commitment to providing quality services to residents and visitors, the Communications Center is equipped with the latest technology including Enhanced 9-1-1, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), traffic operation cameras, language interpretation, and a Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD).
Emergency communications personnel are responsible for dispatch of the Brentwood Police and Fire Departments. All calls requiring medical assistance are transferred to the Williamson County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Williamson EOC provides life saving over-the-phone medical instructions and is responsible for sending EMS units. Brentwood firefighters who are also certified paramedics are dispatched as first responders to all medical related calls within the City.
Enhanced 911
(E-911) provides Public Safety Dispatchers with immediate information from 911 caller. This information includes the resident’s name, address, and phone number. This information is critical in providing immediate emergency services to citizens in need.
The system allows the public safety dispatcher to record information immediately in case the caller hangs up before the necessary information has been gathered. In the event of a hang up, the dispatcher will call you back to inquire and also send a police officer to ensure your safety. If you call 911 in error, please do not hang up.
