Adopted Codes
The City of Brentwood has adopted the 2006 versions of the International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC), and the 2009 versions of NFPA 1 (Fire Prevention Code) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code).
Burning Requirements
Brentwood Fire & Rescue encourages our community to behave responsibly with fire. With the exception of small cooking fires, all burning in the city of Brentwood requires a burn permit. Burn permits may be denied if weather conditions could increase the likelihood of wildfires. They may be revoked if the conditions listed on the permit are not met. Household trash and construction materials may not be burned. Material burned must be native to the site.
Brentwood encourages residents with trimmings to contact the Public Works Department at 371-0080 for information regarding the chipper service, rather than burning debris. The chipper service is a free, safe way to dispose of vegetative materials.
Blasting Requirements
Due to the rocky terrain of many areas, blasting is often part of the site preparation for development within the city. Requirements for blasting may be found here.
Citizens with concerns about blasting are encouraged to call the non-emergency dispatch number at 371-0160.
Lock Box Requirements
Quick access to commercial buildings is essential in an emergency. Lock boxes are available for sale and may be obtained by calling 371-0170. Requirements for lock boxes can be found here.
